If you need a book or journal article that is not owned by the library, we can request it for you through Interlibrary Loan (ILL). This service
is limited to current Mary Baldwin College students, faculty, and staff.
Please check the Online Catalog first; we will not order items that we
already own. We also will not order textbooks or popular videos; please check your local library holdings to see if they might have these items.
You may send your requests to us in the following ways:
Electronic Request Forms
* If you send a request by e-mail or fax, be sure to include:
- complete bibliographic citations (e.g. title, author, source, date...)
- your name and MBC ID#
- an address, phone number, or e-mail address so we can contact you
Delivery time—While most ILL items arrive within
5-10 business days, there are no guarantees on delivery time. Order
as far in advance as possible—as soon as you know you will need
the item. If you no longer need a book or article that has not arrived, please
contact the ILL department to cancel your request.
Pick up—Once the material arrives at Grafton,
we forward it to you. Books can be picked up at the circulation desk or sent to you if you reside outside the Staunton/Augusta area.
Most lending libraries loan materials for 4-6 weeks and items tend to be non-renewable.
If you would like to request a renewal, you must do so at least 5 days
before the due date. When possible, we will forward ILL journal articles by e-mail, and those are yours to keep.
Due Dates—ILL items are governed by the circulation policies of their lending library. It is vital to return ILL material on time. The continuation of our borrowing
agreements with other libraries depends on the responsibility of our
patrons—you! If hours do not permit you to return your ILL items
at the circulation desk, please use the drop box to the right of Grafton’s
main entrance. Late returns will accrue fines not only from the lending library but also from Grafton Library at the rate of $0.25/day/item.
Contact—For any questions, please call Sean Crowley at 540-887-7317, or email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
