When the King commands Evadne, sister to the soldier Melantius, to marry Amintor despite the young man's promises to Aspatia, he sparks a fire in his court that consumes his kingdom. See this sensual, sensational, spectacular, subversive piece of Jacobean drama — The Maid's Tragedy by Beaumont and Fletcher — on stage at the Blackfriars Playhouse (10 South Market St.) at 7:30 p.m. April 25 and 26. Preshow music begins at 7:15 p.m. Performances are free and open to the public.
