Position Summary: The Volunteer Farm seeks a dynamic, self-starter to assist marketing and communications efforts. This internship is an excellent opportunity to experience various aspects of marketing while working for well-known community based nonprofit organization.
Responsibilities (As Needed):
•Assist in planning, writing and managing eNewsletters.
•Draft, distribute and pitch news releases, media alerts and other stories
•Design flyers, graphics, e-vites and other marketing materials, as needed.
•Reach out to the community organizations, general public and donors with the Volunteer Farm mission.
•Collaborate with staff on new ideas, directions, and venues for marketing and communications.
•Conduct donor research.
•Assist with special event and fundraiser planning.
Required Education and Experience:
•Must be at least 18 and working toward a degree English, Marketing/Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
•Must be computer literate (working knowledge of word processing, PowerPoint, Excel).
•Proficiency in Adobe InDesign and Photoshop highly desired.
•An effective communicator, both written and oral.
•Ability to communicate in a professional manner with press and community contact.
•Self-motivated, good organizational skills, detail-oriented, ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines.
Application Information: We expect that these responsibilities will take between 10 to 15 hours per week over the course of a semester. Up to five hours per week can be completed remotely, with appropriate work documentation. Academic credit must be received for the internship experience from a university or graduate school in lieu of compensation.
