Activities Director

Available: March 15 – September 30 (with the possibility of extending into October 2013).

Hours: Friday afternoons and evenings; Saturday and Sunday 10am – 8pm; Monday holidays as assigned.

Dress Code: Uniform shirts will be provided and must be returned at the end of the season. Otherwise, employees wear clean jeans, pants, or shorts that are well-fitting and clear of rips and holes. Sneakers may be worn. As most of the job takes place outside, it is crucial that the director be dressed comfortably.

Payment: The hourly wage for this position is still being discussed, but will be confirmed before we begin interviews. Unfortunately, we cannot provide housing, so it is crucial that all candidates have housing available before they begin.

Job Duties: The Activities Director will be responsible for leading group activities during our busy summer season. These activities will primarily involve children of all different ages, and so an ideal candidate will not only enjoy working with children but will also have a fun and energetic demeanor.

The ideal candidate will have a focus in elementary education, physical education, or a similar field, and will be willing to lead a variety of activities, including crafts, games, pool games, parades, and contests. This person will be able to speak in front of large groups of people and will not be easily flustered.

This person will be responsible for making sure that activities begin on time and will try to include all those who show up in the fun, while keeping everyone safe. Ideally, we’d like this person to plan at least one activity on their own per weekend, as well as plan and execute an entire themed weekend towards the end of the season (August or September).

Required Education and Experience:

A history of working in customer service is strongly preferred, and a focus on elementary, middle-school, and/or physical education would be helpful.

To Apply:

To Apply: Please contact Erika Zipser at the Staunton/Walnut Hills KOA by emailing a cover letter and resume to stauntonkoa@yahoo.com. We will continue to review applications until April 15th, but would prefer to hire the right person sooner, so if you think you’re a good fit, please contact us as soon as possible.

Application Process: The process will include an initial phone screening as well as an in-person interview on the campground. As this position requires working with children of all ages, a background check may be required and anything that will be found should be disclosed during the application process. References will also be checked.
